A 22 -year old University girl on Wednesday narrated to a Nairobi court how she was raped by an imposter who has been using a fake online identity of Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko.
The woman, who is from Eldoret ,claimed to have been repeatedly raped by Joseph Gitau Njoki (in the photo below) after lying to her that he would facilitate a meeting between her and the flamboyant Senator.
The girl said she was desperate to pay her university fees and the sweet talking bastard made her believe that Sonko would sponsor her education by giving her Sh 150,000.
The woman said she met the impostor through a Facebook account he created to lure unsuspecting Kenyans.
It took Gitau one week to nab his prey, when she shared her contacts through the “Mike Sonko Foundation” page which was created by the impostor.
She said Gitau asked her to travel to Nairobi for him to facilitate the meeting with Mike Sonko.
She was promised a refund of her fare upon arrival in Nairobi, courtesy of the Nairobi Senator.
Following the promising deal, the victim for the first time travelled to Nairobi in mid June, where Gitau was to pick her up from the North Rift stage behind Afya House.
When she reached Nairobi, Gitau was waiting for her at the stage ready to take her to Sonko’s hotel in Westlands.
“He came after 30 minutes to pick me up and he told me the Senator was relaxing in a room he had booked. We arrived in the room he had already booked. We chatted for some minutes before he excused himself saying he wanted to see the Senator,” the girl said.
After some time, Gitau came back and lied to the girl that Sonko was relaxing in his hotel room after a hard day at work.
After taking dinner, Gitau directed the girl to follow him to the room where the Nairobi Senator was waiting and once in the room, Gitau closed the door before hurling a barrage of insults at her.
“He told me that I would curse the day I was born and I started getting worried because we were only the two of us in the room and Sonko was nowhere. I did not want to risk my life,” the girl said.
“She stripped all my clothes and without using a condom, she raped me repeatedly until the morning,” the girl added.
